"I just graduated from a pwi [predominantly white institution] and for my job I worked [in a very monotone environment]. I was applying to vet school (which is an obstacle on it’s own) and we had vets volunteer to participate in mock interviews. I was supposed to receive feedback from the vet, but instead received feedback from one of my professors who said I was "average going up against above average people". When asked what the veterinarian's feedback was, I was told the veterinarian thought I did well. My white professor was pretty much saying that in this entire group of people, everyone else (who were also white) were better than me. I was distraught."
